Awe she's so cute even when she is Miss Cranky Pants. Okay now a good one:
Tue2-8

Her eyes are still quite grey, but turning more blue. Her smile is brighter than the sun. No one wakes up as happy as Tuesday Lee, I'm sure of that. She loves life. We swaddle her at night and she has at least one good stretch of sleep (5-7) hours and then feeds and has another shorter one (usually 2 hours). I always hope for a little bit more but usually that's it. When she gets out of the swaddle in the morning she stretches out to her full height (now 23 1/4 inches tall) and sticks out her tummy. So. Freaking. Cute! She is this big:
031109-15

I guess monsters are scary. Even nice ones. She weighs 9 lbs 14 ounces. Naps are… rare. Her hair is growing in lighter, a pretty brown color. Her proportions (85% height/25% weight) necessitated a wardrobe revamp:
Snaps-1

These are awesome, because she gets her arms up and out of the next size up of onsie. She out pees her Thirsties all in one diapers so we had to order doublers for them. She loves the water and could stay in the bath for hours.

I don't really know what more to say about her except that I love her with all my heart and then some. She is the most fantastic little being I've ever met. The motherly instinct is a powerful thing. She's been up since 7:30 and we've been going going going (it's seven now). I'm so tired, but she just has to throw me one little smile and I forget about all of that. So in love with her!

*Assuming I live to be a hundred.

If you can’t make it… buy it!

I love Etsy. I have a lot of favorite stores on there, and now I have another: momonomo. I found her by going from blog to blog, you know how it goes. She featured an awesome hirigana quilt (a Japanese alphabet) on her blog. She mentioned that she was hoping for orders for them so I contacted her. My quilt arrived Monday. I should say Tuesday's quilt. Bj and I got it to hopefully fuel a love of languages (we both took Japanese in high school).
Quilt-4

(you read this from the top right, and then down each row right to left). We got to pick the backing fabric, which she also used for the binding and it is little pink polka dots.
Quilt-1

The quality is amazing.
Quilt-5

Now get this she charged me $95 – that's it! And she had an amazing turn around time. She has since raised her prices slightly, and the quilts can now be custom ordered at her shop. I am so happy with this quilt and I'm sure Tuesday will love it too.

Swap – it’s on now I need a name!

Stash-7
(Just a pretty picture of my newest roving from Hello Yarn's fiber club)

I'm going ahead with the swap, but I've changed it up a bit. Instead of having to break up 8 of your bumps of fiber I am going to have everyone send me a four ounce (I'm open to 8 ounces also) amount of fiber (dyed) and five dollars. I'll split up the rovings and make up scrap packs with at least 8 different kinds/colors of fiber. The five dollars is so that I can send back out the fiber priority mail with delivery confirmation. I think it will work better, and be easier for everyone to do it this way.

I am working on a Ravelry group. I got permission to use this awesome photo:
3305589150_391cb3a573_b
from Treadle to the Metal's photostream. She got her scrappies from Funky Carolina. I need to make up a banner and badge for the Ravelry group from this. Also I need to have at least three people ready to sign up when I make the group up (hopefully tonight). If you would like to participate please leave a comment with your user name, or email me. Or you can track me down on Ravelry, I'm squeekie23. I also need a good group name, the only thing I've come up with so far is scrappy fiber swap or swap for scraps, but I'm sure someone can do better.

I had some questions about the swap, like what if you don't have a big stash. That's no problem now that I've changed the format a bit, you only need 4 ounces of fiber. I'm going to put together a list of awesome etsy sellers and other places online to get hand-dyed fiber. What if you're not a spinner? Dianne wanted to know if I had any resources to make little felt balls (like this). I thought I did, but I am still searching for a good tutorial (I'm pretty sure it's way easy like rolling it in your palms after getting it wet with hot water or something). *I was sort of right – here's a little picture tutorial. Does anyone have a good link to help with this? Well if you do want to do felting crafts instead of spinning you are also welcome to join in the fun. I found this cool looking book:
Is.aspx

Simply Needlefelt. I haven't read it, but don't those flowers look amazing? You can see more samples of the projects on the publisher's site. The key thing if  you want to do these types of projects is that your fiber must NOT BE SUPERWASH. If it is superwash it will not felt like this.

So other questions? Ideas? I'd like to move this mostly over to Ravelry so I have to have three takers, and you don't have to commit to the swap, just joining the group page. Anyone?

Also feel free to leave questions, I'll either answer them here or in another post.

*Edited: the group is started here it is! Swap for Scraps Group!

Easy Announcements

I just wanted to share a super simple announcement idea that I am attempting to get out the door here soon for Tuesday Lee:
Announcing-1

The cards are from paper zone, a natural cream with rounded corners. I also picked up the photo corners there. I had the photos printed at Shutterfly (so that I could have the back stamped with her birthday and name at no extra charge).
Announcing-2

And the back I had my mom print off for me. I have room for thank you notes for all the wonderful things we've gotten since she's been born. Now I just need a few more of these to get it done:
Announcing-3

There's a baby under there. Nap time on the stairs – safety first at our house ๐Ÿ™‚

Buddies

So basically what I got was: hopefully she'll grow out of it? ๐Ÿ™‚ Good thing I have some friends nearby whose babies are not so anti-car. My crew girl friend Tracy (as opposed to my neighbor friend Tracy) who had the same due date as me brought over her little boy Lachlan (cool name, right?). I've been meaning to take pictures of them together (he was born two days before her):
030209-2

They are about the same height I think. Those tights from Sarah are still big, but I couldn't wait any longer for her to wear them, they are so cute!030209-3

Ah ha ha ha that one totally cracks me up. They don't even acknowledge each other at all!
030209-6

I'm so glad my mom was there (always helping me out love you mom!) so Tracy and I got one of us with our little ones. Do they look like us? I think they look more like our husbands, but I do see bits of their mamas in there too. Oh man they are just so cute together! I can't wait to look back in a few years, I'm sure we'll have lots of them together over the years.

And hopefully of this little guy as well:
030209-9

My friend Donna's baby was due the same time as us, but she had him just before Christmas. After this picture was taken he started fussing a little so I said, "no problem I'll pick him up" (she was holding Tuesday). OH. MY. GOD. I hope Tuesday stays small (and light) forever! William weighs almost 15 pounds to Tuesday's 9 pounds 6 ounces. I feel like she is getting so big then we get around these boys! I'm hoping she'll be able to get rough and tumble with them by the time they're crawling around.

Ahhh total cute baby overload. ๐Ÿ™‚ And my neighbor across the street is due soon… another boy! But we'll get some girls soon; Carmen with one in May, and Karen with TWO in May.

We can’t take you anywhere!

Tutu-2

Oh man Tuesday is going for day three of awesome sleep! Seriously, I don't want to jinx myself but it's 9:23 and she's been in bed for an hour already. Oh and what was that? Did she nap? Yes she did… twice!
Tutu-7

let's look at that little chub-a-lub up close:
Tutu-10

I can't help it we're so new to the nap thing I needed proof. Don't tell me we're going to be up at like 4am, I plenty scared about that already.

So since you had some great advice on that, let's tackle this:
Tutu-12

Miss Sparkle Pants' name could also be Miss Hates to Travel By Car, seriously. We went two places this weekend and both got us on the freeway and up to speeds that used to appease the little princess. But 65 just isn't cutting it anymore. We had to take out the nice soft bundleme padding because she was working herself up into a sweat! We've tried music, rolling down the windows, making it hot, making it cold, holding onto her arms and holding her tight, pacifiers (oh she hates these, spits out every kind we can find), rubbing her belly, and crying with her. She just can't handle it. We took down the mirror she was looking at thinking that maybe she was getting car sick (Bj gets really car sick and it is genetic). I don't know what else to do, so ideas? I can't go anywhere around town because I never get going fast enough to even have a chance. Good thing there are lots of places we can walk to!

Mostly fiber related, spinners check in!

With a little Tuesday thrown in…
Spunk-1

Because this thing called a nap? Have you heard of it? It is AWESOME!

Now for spinners, I have this idea:
So I just signed up for Funky Carolina's Scrappy Club where you get a bunch of her awesome fibers in a tiny little bunches. Here is an example, and here is an example of one of those bunches spun up. What I was thinking was a swap where spinners could piece off little bits of fiber from various stash bundles that they have to total up four ounces and I could randomly assign a partner to send it to. In return you'd get a four ounce bundle of different fibers to play with. That's my rough outline anyway. Anyone interested? If so I'll put together actual guidelines and a sign up. I'm interested to know how many spinners are out there anyway – hello, hello?

Now I might as well show you some pretty fiber-goodness pictures:
022509-9

The cool half of my Spunky Eclcetic semi-solid merino sampler.
022509-7

And some batts from her shop. I've never spun batts before so I'm excited about these. Mmm they look like cotton candy to me, and I love cotton candy!
Spunk-3

And I got her club. I know crazy fiber around here, good thing Tuesday seems to like watching the wheel go round, for little bits of time anyway!

Oh and one more picture of Tuesday for kicks:
022509-1

Sparkle pants is wearing a handknit sweater from my friend, jeans (without crotch snaps – so cute!), and foot finders. Kay I remember you getting some of these for your brother's baby in Maine. I asked you what foot finders were and you said, "Where are my feet? There they are!"

Ebbs and Flows

It's strange that the good and bad days in my life right now are so tied to sleep. We go from wake up happiness:
Love-1

To insane tiredness:
Space-7

And everything else in between in the course of a day. I realize more and more how much I need other people to help me, and that can be a hard thing to figure out when you're like me and want to do it all. There is no way I can. Today lunch was brought to me, my mom came over to take my packages to the post office, and I called a neighbor to hold Tuesday so I could fix dinner since Bj was still at work. I also got Tuesday to take a 20 minute nap (not on me) and did a little spinning. I think those tiny bits of me time are going to be my sanity. Back to the photo journal of my day.
Space-3

New toy. She will play with this for five minutes by herself, but half an hour or more if you shake it and talk to her about all the parts. She really is getting so social! Also I love this sweater my mom knit her. She has been the spit up queen lately (Tuesday, not my mom), so I have a tub full of woolens to wash tomorrow.
New bobbin-1

The first bobbin is finished, now on the second, hoping to get a third done and make a true 3-ply (fiber from Squoosh). Now that we're using the sling I can do a little more on the computer. I was able to stock the Hello Yarn update and got a few things.
Mini and me-2

And when my mom stopped by she brought her new camera! Not bad considering the lack of sleep and make up!

Well I'm going to go try to get this little bird to sleep!

Lots of Pictures… you’ve been warned.

My sweet baby girl decided to give us a wonderfully relaxing weekend, with lots of naps and sleeping in. I attribute that all to this:
022209-4

Near constant eating. Seriously, and you can tell she's gotten so much bigger!
022209-15

(more of this series to come, we were having lots of fun with her tonight). She still is, of course very tiny because she's a baby! Six weeks old yesterday, craziness.
022209-10

Her first sink bath. She loved it, of course, she's a water nut.
022209-7

Tiny feet. Okay I'm officially not on any topic for this post, just Tuesday love.

My favorites from tonight:
022209-18

and then…
022209-19

He always gets her to smile like this.

But I bet I can get you to smile like that:
022209-28

What? I was doing it for scale. ๐Ÿ™‚
022209-29

Okay I cut that down from 30 pictures (which I cut down from the 100s I've taken this weekend). I don't think I'll ever get over that this is my daughter and that she is so fantastic! I love her little personality and just seeing her change everyday, it's the most wonderful thing.
