Just because it was sunny

Tutu1-1
I had an idea to take pictures of Tutu in her birthday suit. But thought better of since you never know when the girl is going to pee.  She doesn't normally wear these diapers, they are like back up emergency ones. But they do the trick.
Tutu1-2
She loves to eat her hands.
Tutu1-3
Ah silly girl, I think she was saying something here.

Okay so that was a pretty  pointless post, but the grandparents might go nuts if I waited another day to post pictures of Tuesday. 🙂 I have lots planned for this weekend, we'll see how that goes. Oh and I did want to mention that I just sent off my fiber for the second round of the swap. Someone else took over for me this round and fiber must be in by the 31st if you want to play. This is the yumminess I got last time, it really is a fun grab bag of fibers.

You didn’t think the remodel was done did you?

Because it is so not. The night before I went into labor I enthusiastically ripped up the paper protecting our wood floors and vowed we were done, no more workers upstairs at least. Of course they still did pop up a bit to finish a few things. And when Tutu was a couple days old they started on the front porch (we actually had a pile of rubble at the front door when the first visitors came to see her). After the porch was put on (and the bathroom downstairs tiled, and a few other random things), we had no workers for a while. But the other big project could not be started until the weather was somewhat "stable" (meaning not raining 24/7). And that would be the siding project (because we didn't really want to match our existing aluminum when we did the upstairs). Let's call this photo the before:
Before-1
Though this should probably be the real before. I took that picture almost three years ago before I even bought the place. From the front you can't tell we remodeled the upstairs, which is what we wanted. But from the side you can:
House-1
Oh ya, did you notice something else? Like the absence of even more barriers between my neighbor and I? Imagine my shock when I woke up from a nap with Tutu and found my neighbor had commandeered the tree trimmers I hired to cut down the whole hedge. Since that protected us from the intersection as well we are now meeting with landscape people as well. I think it will turn out to be for the best. We had the property surveyed and found out that our yarn went further over than we thought. We also have a rock wall buried under there, so it's quite a ledge, and we'll need to put something up so Tutu can't fall over the edge. Oh the tree trimmers were here to take care of this:
Backyard-1
Our jungle. We had some issues from an ice storm a couple (okay five) months ago, and I'd never had anything trimmed up. Of course now this picture is outdated for other reasons – the deck was ripped off to get out the old siding in the back (which is really two layers – the original lap and aluminum over the top). So we're living in this:
House-3
It's hard to tell from the front, but all the siding is gone, the window frames are now gone (did you know that stuff is called brick mold? I'm learning so much), and the storm windows are off of course. Oh my goodness it is so loud now. The windows might as well be paper, and they the workers might as well be ripping nails off on the inside. I think it is going to be awesome. And I'll finally get to tackle the yard, something I've been wanting to do for years, but knowing that this and than that had to be done, it was not very motivating to plant anything for fear it would get ripped apart. Those fears were well founded as you can see.

Projected project completion – oh these things are supposed to have those?

P.S. I have to give a shout out to my friend (my architect friend – how cool is that?) Matt, who figured out how we could put a porch on in like five minutes and we were at a loss as to how to do it for months because of the weird roof line. Of course it looks like the obvious solution now, Matt = genius.

A new voice

For Bj’s birthday he got a new camera, a tiny little Elph that also takes video. And for mother’s day he taught me how to upload it.

That’s Tutu working on her voice and playing with her new toy, which we call her teething landmine. She loves this thing (and at only $5 it was well worth the money). I’ll have to get more video of her looking in the mirror, playing with her feet, and all those other special skills. She seems to learn something new everyday.

Finished Object – The Copycat Blanket

Little Tuesday has had her first real sickness this week. A cold that gave her a really stuffed up nose, a low grade temperature and really gross diapers. We've been spending a lot of time here:
042609-13
Which has led to lots of knitting time for me, in spurts, with a baby on my lap. Which led to a finished object:
Blankie-13
The Copy Cat Blanket (rav link). Tuesday was feeling better yesterday afternoon so we did a little mini photo shoot.
Blankie-8
I still got lots of the blank sick stares:
Blankie-7
Poor little bean.
Blankie-4
About the blanket: finished it measures about 32" square. I used almost two full skeins of Socks that Rock Medium weight, plus a quarter skein more for the garter edge (so the blanket won't curl). This has to be the easiest thing I've ever knit, but it's not perfect. It's sort of wonky and puffy in the middle, and I'm not quite sure why. I think I might be able to fix it with blocking, but the blanket is already in rotation, so I'll just try and stretch it when I wash it. It is supremely tasty (apparently):

Blankie-15
Knit blankets are great for swaddling. We still swaddle her at night, but in a blanket with Velcro, because she can get out of these kind pretty quick. She thought this was a funny game though. And I figured I should get a few more shots of the little miss all wrapped up while I still can:
Blankie-14
And after lots of nursing and humidifier action and grandma snuggles:
Blankie-1
we're feeling lots lots better.

*Your eyes do not deceive you – while she was sick she took a pacifier. It must have made her feel better, because usually she shoots them across the room.

Lady are you crazy?

What are you doing mama? Why are you just sitting there on the computer?
Nap-2
Oh you're trying to blog or get something else done?
Nap-3
Listen I let you look online while you nurse me on your iPhone. Is that not good enough now you want a whole ten minutes to yourself? Are you crazy? Okay I'll play by myself for a little bit
Nap-4
Just kidding I'm going to start whining now.
Nap-1
And maybe poop a little to keep you on your toes. And I know you love me so much you'll just have to pick me up and play with me. Right?

Right. So that's what I've been doing. And you know what? I love it. She is so awesome. Blogging you are now number two.

Tuesday Update… on Monday

My sweet Tutu has been so adorable lately. Funny. And learning to do lots of new things. I love her so much!
042609-2
Playing with her hands.
042609-4
And standing up with a little help. I had Sciarrino dress her – such a cute outfit. Glad I dug out the size 6 months shirts!!!
042609-10
I have a whole series of these, they might be my favorite shots yet.
042609-11
She wasn't actually pouting, just caught her in the middle of her fun with tongue time.
042609-12
Playing with her feet.

Today Lachlan and Tracy came over:
Lochlan-3
Oh yes, Bj wanted me to put her in her monster outfit at least one more time (we were going through her clothes last night):
Lochlan-4
He was very excited to cuddle the little monster:
Lochlan-5
She also had a cute onsie on under there. We tried to get the two babies together:
Lochlan-10
Sparkle Pants was not cooperative (don't worry a little nursing soon fixed the situation).

The next post will be craft related… I have way more projects going than time, you'll see.

Sunshiney Day

I don't think Tuesday quite knows what to do with herself in this heat (high 70s). She's developed a coping mechanism:
Sun-1
heheh she's quite proud of it:
Sun-2
Okay maybe I just blew a raspberry on her tummy. It's hard to resist!
Sun-4
Especially when she pulls her dress up for me. I should say tunic since all dresses on Tuesday are ultra short due to her LONG torso. When she was fussy today my mom said it's because she didn't know what do with herself with out a hat on. Don't worry… I got her a sun hat 🙂

In other news we went to our bradley birthing class reunion. But I forgot to get permission to show all the super cute babies, so you'll just have to take my word that taking those classes makes you have a cute baby! And I've been working for days and days on this:
Sun-6
I still have to get the details on Ravelry, but basically this is the height of my spinning so far. A navajo 3-ply that is very fine. A fingering or sockweight yarn. Each ply was as thick as a sewing thread. What posessed me to do this, I don't know. I have no idea what I'm going to make with it, but I think I need to go spin some bulky yarn now.

Tummy Time

I've been not so great at doing tummy time with Tuesday, and was feeling pretty guilty about that. I finally found a place to do it that she seems to like, by putting her on our bed and sitting on the floor in front of her. I do it other times as well, but this definitely gives me the cutest view.
Tummy time-2
Hi Tuesday! Look how strong you are.
Tummy time-3
And what cute noises you make.
Tummy time-6
What's that?
Tummy time-9
You love puppies? Who doesn't my love, who doesn't?

She seems to have survived the lack of tummy time. And this mama will do better now that I have it figured out!

The cuteness continues

041309-10
Oh my goodness Tuesday has started this pre-talking babbling thing and it is so cute I could just die! We got a little bit on video so I'll have to see if Bj can get it online. That is a new development as of today. I am reminded that I should write this kind of thing down on the calendar a friend got us, but the thing is I never remember. It is a good thing I have the blog. I do still want to do a blub book of my four years of blogging (oops I forgot the anniversary of it this year). Anyway back to what's happening now.

Yesterday for easter we went over to my mom's where we were joined by my grandma. Check it out three generations:
Easter-2
Hmmm we should have got one with my mom in it, we'll have to try again. My grandma did point out to me that I have very few pictures on the blog with Tuesday and Bj. He is always working during the hours of good light. Now that it's staying lighter later I hope to change that. Tutu hung out in her favorite place at my mom's:
041309-1
The awesome vintage buggy from our friend Chris. My mom likes to put Tuesday in there and coo at her:
041309-3
I think Tuesday likes that too.

The main thing I had to do this weekend was all my tax stuff. Ugh. I always wait until the last minute. My accountant actually called me at home on Saturday. I was working on Quickbooks when he called and I told him so. I think he probably though, "ya right." But I did manage to drop everything off this morning. Phew. So I was finally able to take a picture of the yarn I made up for an hourglass sweater:
041309-4
I already started knitting it up while Sparkle Pants was sleeping on my lap, but now I'm re-thinking my needle choice. I think the fabric I'm getting might be too dense. I also want to start something with this yumminess:
041309-8
Mmm it's so soft (rav link).

My photo shoot assistant:
041309-9
Mr. Purple. A new friend from papa. I keep it on my bed to keep her busy while I take pictures of the fiber yumminess.
