Her First Thanksgiving

-2
(I think this says, "I've got them right where I want them.")

I pulled a mama card today and handed over all feast making duties to Bj. This turned out to be a wonderful idea since Tuesday did not want to rest at all and wanted lots of mama cuddles and turns out Bj can cook a great Thanksgiving dinner!

-1

I wanted to do something at the beginning of the meal that we could hold on to – a new tradition. So I came up with an idea for everyone to write their thanks on scraps of paper along with their name and the year so we can have a nice big jar of things we're thankful for (I think I saw something like this at one time off in blog land but can't remember where). Since Bj had the honor of cooking, he also had the honor of blending:

-11

Mmm turkey, mashed potato and a little milky.

-12

She loved the cranberry sauce (my mom blogged about the super easy recipe here) and stuffing the most I think.

-13

"Guys this drumstick is too big for my two tiny teeth!" We tried to get her to hold that up, it was way too heavy, but pretty funny to try!

Before dinner though we went out to the porch and took some pictures with our guests:

-4

Grandpa and Grandma

-5

Nana and Pops

-6

Uncle Brent and Auntie Kat (who was the behind the scenes attention getter for the rest of the shots).

-8

All the ladies!

-7

Uncle Taylor. She was loving uncle Taylor today:

-10

Taylor started college this year, doesn't he just look like a college guy now? I think he does.

-15

Mmm that was some good times.

Obviously I'm making up for her 2 pictures on the forth of July, missing Easter shots, and a very unfilled baby book 🙂 Hope your day was as wonderful!

Thanks!

This last weekend I had a fun craft day. Even though I didn't finish much it was nice to get the creative energy flowing. Erin was sweet and brought Tuesday some homemade applesauce. I thought I would post a little pictorial thank you:

112309-9

"Mama, must you always take pictures of me?"

112309-10

"That's okay I'm distracted by the loveliness that is my yummy applesauce."

112309-13

"It feels so funny!"

112309-15

"I'm going to try and eat it all."

112309-16

"Have fun cleaning up mama!"

Okay that was picture light, she loved it so much I took way too many pictures. Thanks again Erin!

112309-17

Sue brought me over these great patterns. I love all the vintage toy ones, they remind me of softies my great grandma made me a long time ago. I hope to get time to make at least one for Tutu for Christmas.

112309-8

And Sarah check this out! The little lady is growing some hair! It's a stretch to get it in now, but soon, soon!

Thanks again to all my sweet friends. Kisses!

Buddies

Tuesday loves hanging out with her buddies. We need to go on more walks with William and his mama, it's easy for me to stay in the house. Yesterday we did get out, so I snapped a picture of the kids:

111809-1

This is when they were only about a month old (William is a couple of weeks older). Time flies!

111909-1

Tuesday was not so impressed with Chloe's ability to get back at her from this summer. I love to see Tutu's reaction to other babies, she is so much more interactive. I really should get her out into more groups, she just loves to watch people. But for now, down to the basement 🙂

Mommy Blogger

Oh, I have been a bad blogger, and, I realized today, a bad picture taker! I decided to remedy that because (in my opinion) Tuesday just keeps getting cuter and cuter!

111709-1

Unfortunately she is getting harder and harder to photograph. The little girl is a mover!

111709-2

I wish I could say I've been up to all sorts of interesting things, but mostly it's just been keeping up with her:

111709-3

Silly girl.

111709-4

My mom, however, has been doing a better job of me blogging. Yes, blogging! She started up one a few weeks ago – here it is – and has been posting regularly. I'm sure I've mentioned that my mom is an interior designer, so her posts are full of good design, color, and some cooking, among other things. Check it out.

10 months

Oh my goodness where does the time go, really? I figured it would be no problem to post every day this week, I feel that I have lots of things to say, but the days keep getting away from me! And the months too I guess as my little sparkly pants has turned 10 months old. Some of her cohorts are walking around already. I don't want her to speed up growing, but I don't want her to slow down either. I just love watching her grow!

111009-4

Some things about Miss Tuesday Lee:

-Her hair is starting to grow longer (can you see it in that picture?). This makes it especially cute when she gets done nursing and has sweaty hair that sticks up everywhere.

-Her eyes are more green and very pretty.

-Loves to talk and will babble non stop for a quite a while, but still gets a little hush hush in public.

-Doesn't have a schedule, we've attempted them, but nothing has stuck.

-Still loves to nurse, maybe more than any baby in history? Gets her milky at least six times a day (and at least two at night). Has no interest in chewing, but will try anything. I gave her a pickle tonight just for fun and had to take it away from her. I was expecting a funny face but she loved it!

-Naps only once about every week or so, more if we take a long car ride.

-She can do a lot of damage with those two little teeth, using them to shred, tear, or pull things apart. Not to mention tapping them on her spool, cup, or anything else hard she can find.

-Has started playing with her tongue, I have to get this on video it is so funny.

-Laughs many times a day, at all manner of things, but usually her parents. I told her Bones was on tonight and I said it kind of like "b-ones" with a hard B and she thought it was so funny.

-If she has been away from either papa or mama for any amount of time (even ten minutes) seeing them again will result in squeals of happiness, and lots of leg kicking.

-Mostly wearing size six months, starting to grow out of 3-6 month size pants, and starting to fit into 6-12 month size clothes:

111109-1

Super cute outfit from my hairdresser (thanks Heather!)

-Can stand on her own, just for a few seconds before she realizes she's not holding onto anything then carefully sits down.

-So curious, lovable, friendly, outgoing, wonderful… we just love her so so much.

Reflecting on all of this, plus anticipating getting a new studio set up has made me want to start scrapbooking some more. Most of all I just want to remember all the little things. I'm sure my mom would say that time has gone by quickly since she took this picture:

111009-1

An old layout I did four years ago. Funny how Tuesday loves jumping around so much too! I threw a layout together really quickly of Tutu at four months:

111009-2

And writing down the things about her then she has changed a lot, but I feel like the changes are coming quicker now and are more and more amazing. That's why I decided to get out my December Daily album from last year and repurpose it. I only got to the forth, so I'm making it for her 12th month, from December 10th-January 9th. I expect this time will be really busy and lots of exciting things will be happening with my little girl – and at the end of it she will be one, now that is crazy.

A wonderful weekend

Thank you so much for all your kind and thoughtful comments about the live/work/baby balance. I appreciate them so much! I am seriously thinking of printing them out to have around when I feel overwhelmed again! As it happens a nice relaxed weekend is making me feel a lot better. We stocked up on safety supplies:

110809-1

And they should be installed soon, I know Bj is really looking forward to all those little screws 🙂 While in Portland I also picked up new luggage for an upcoming trip (it's green!), a set of reflectors and this cool new thing:

110909-1

It's called a Spyder cube. You hang it directly in front of the light source for your subject, take a picture of it in RAW, and then use it as a basis for all the rest of the photos in a series. I haven't figured it all out, but have started playing around with it:

Picture 1

Pretty cool huh? Sunday was nice and relaxing. Bj and I said we were not going to do anything, but we both ended up getting lots of little things accomplished. I cleaned up downstairs, of course today Tuesday still was cruising around trying to find things to eat, like the stool she is holding onto. I also packed up lots of orders. I love seeing what combinations people order:

110909-7

We've decided to save up for a car seat for my mom's car, so she can pick up Tutu sometimes for little jaunts so I can do some computer related work. I think this is going to be the perfect solution to my feeling overwhelmed in that regard. Of course I'll probably never let her out of my sight longer than an hour or two, since she is so darn cute.

The Day Job

Jars11.05.09

I am trying to look on the bright side of the fact that only my mother had some advice for me on the last post. I guess it just means that it is hard and other work from home moms are trying to figure it out too, so if I come up with something brilliant I'll be sure to let you know. One brilliant thing that I did do yesterday was have my mom  help me! Yeah for grandma time. I woke up with a pretty serious blocked milk duct (no fun), so my mom came to get Tutu so I could rest and work it out. Then she came and took her for a little while in the afternoon so I could get some Ribbon Jar business taken care of. Everything came together in the evening and the plugged duct was gone, and I got out a newsletter! Though my business has been trucking right along this is the first time in over a year I've put out a newsletter. I have new email marketing software though so I think it's going to be much easier. I'm excited to be able to put more projects up on the ideas page, and to have more sales and specials. I just added a bunch of stuff to the sale page, and all in stock ric-rac is 20% (through Monday). And if you didn't get a newsletter and you would like to in the future it's easy to sign up on my home page
