Whoa, who knew: Barbie’s Pregnant Friend Yanked. And she’s been married and has one kid already, but still WalMart said it gave kids the “wrong idea.” That’s so weird, considering she wears a wedding ring and everything (I checked mine, I never noticed it before, but she does have a little ring painted on). You may already know that I find WalMart to be really disgusting in almost every way so this is just icing on the cake. It’s called open sex education people and it’s good. This just leaves me so puzzled. I think people should be more upset that the husband is out flying a kite with the little kid while she gives birth. hmm. Well I’ll leave you with a sunny thought:
I don’t know how this happened. I have five barbies, and not from my childhood! But seriously I can’t help it. I mean toys are so cheap (compared to adult toys like the PSP). Oh and then I just get stuck on one and I want it so bad. And I just start thinking, hey I’m adult, I can buy what I want and I get one! Ah well, they make me happy. So from left to right. Ken, just got him today. He’s go blond movable hair (my Ken didn’t have that when I was Little), that feels like it has been hair sprayed to death. Bj says his shirt is lame and wanted me to get a Blaine, but I like this guy’s shorts. Then I have my Elle from Legally Blond 2. Bj got this one for me after I saw it online with the little dog, I was freaking out. Then there is the pregnant Midge. I was almost crying at Toys R’ Us when I first saw this doll. The very pregnant Midge is wearing platforms and as soon as her baby and stomach are removed (they are held on by magnet) she is like way too skinny. But the best part? On the back of the box it talked about how Barbie was her baby doctor, and that Ken was at the park with their three year old while she was giving birth. You can even get the Ken and son with a kite! LOL Nice things to teach boys, huh? Then we have another one from today, Lea. She is scented, I kid you not. She smells like sunscreen and the beach, it’s awesome. And her feet are not ever going to be shoved into too high of heals, even her toenails are painted! My favorite is my Malibu Barbie. This is a remake of the old school Malibu (the difference? This one comes with sunscreen). This was my varsity 4’s little sun goddess. We brought her in the boat for good weather luck (love the rain in Oregon, but not when I am laying down in the bow of a boat!). And isn’t her outfit awesome? That was in my stocking last year, a little hand knit Parisian number. You go Malibu!
Okay so I don’t know why all the Barbies but I love changing their outfits. It’s weird because when I was little I liked my American Girl Doll Kirsten the best. Even in the little doll category Ginny Dolls where my favorite. They are these adorable little chubby girl dolls and they have the best fashion. I kind of just went crazy today and put a bunch of their cute clothes on my wish list on Amazon, so you can check out how cute they are. Speaking of cute, I snapped these of Bj today, I just love that guy:
I dusted his guitar right after this 🙂
His feet, so cute, and my new Old Navy sandals, I ran a girl down in Vegas to find out where she got them, and now I have them too! Yeah!!!
Again with the camera? Why yes, I just can’t help myself.
I called my dad earlier this week to ask him if he would help me build a rack for all the ribbon that is showing up at my office. He said, “Actually I wanted to ask you if you would help me build something.” Me: “Okay… what?” “A tractor out of cans.” Oh right, why didn’t I think of that? Well I did help and the above is proof of our efforts (I actually did little compared to the rest of the people who were there from LCG Pence). Anyways I helped him and then he helped me with the ribbon rack. I spent the rest of the day working on this project for the Ribbon Jar. It was such an awesome idea, I’m just finding out it will take lots of work, but hey, I’m up for a challenge! Driving this morning was so gross. Yesterday on the way to Salem there were tons of wrecks, not today. Today we had what I like to think of as the hard core Oregon drivers. Now normally I don’t comment on the rain, because what’s the point, we have it all the time, boring. This morning it was pretty bad though. Surprisingly this brings out good drivers in Oregon. Especially on Saturdays when it’s mostly just people who are driving because they want to get somewhere not because they have to get somewhere (like work). These hard core drivers like to prove that they no how to drive in the rain so, no one slows down and no one looses control. I have to say everyone is very nice on the road when it rains, I do not find this to be the case in all parts of the country. I’ve been places where rain is not normal, and it’s raining, and people are acting like it’s the end of the world. I find that very annoying. On my way home it was absolutely beautiful, sunny, and green, green, green. Compare:
ew this is the morning, that cloud was like, way darker in real life
Isn’t that pretty? I think so. I don’t want you to think I don’t like the rain, because baby I do!
Okay and I came home, walked up to my room and saw this:
Look my little snowman has a tulip! There was a whole bunch on my desk, but I thought this was just the cutest. Bj always puts my little guys like that when he makes my bed. I’ve been wanting flowers forever, thanks sweetie!
Bj and I drove to Salem tonight to have dinner at my mom’s. My little step brother Taylor was there, as were my step sister in law, Coralia, and my cute little niece Brianna, who’s four. Her Dad, my step brother, Aaron, is over in Iraq. My other step brother, Allen, is working in Japan (he’s the same age as me). We were all sitting around talking. I love our family dinners because it seems like my family is really good at talking about everything. Well today we hit on a bunch of topics including piercings and tattoos. After talking about it was said to Brianna, “Never get a tattoo, okay?” She had just been walking her Fisher Price Little People around the table and wasn’t really paying attention. She’s like, “okay.” Then we kind of started talking about something else and she said, “I got a tattoo when I was little, it was sparkly and somebody gave it to me, and it had a mouse dancing (or something like that can’t remember)” So my mom said, “Well glittery ones are okay.” She replied, “Ya, it came off in the bath.” He he he, so funny. I meant to get a picture but totally spaced it. Aaron called Coralia while they were there, it’s cool she gets to talk to him every couple of days. I feel very honored that he has a slang card (see this post) I sent him hanging in his office! Here is a picture of Aaron:
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
He’s in the middle. He is doing all kinds of stuff over there, Coralia just told us that he is going to work on “beautifying a cemetery” that I guess Saddam had a mass grave in an older cemetery so they are going to fix it up. He works with the ministry, an assistant to the chaplain (I think that is his title, Aaron if you are reading this comment and correct me!!). This is the best picture he’s sent:
It was taken at a girl’s school after a drop off from operation crayon. Aren’t they the cutest happiest looking little people? I’ve been thinking that the world is so big and so small at the same time right now, it’s easy to think that way with so many of my friends and family all over. Scotland, England, Denmark, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, all over the United States, I miss you all! Thank goodness we live in an age where we can keep in touch. Love and Peace where ever you are!
First of all did you know that wound (“That wound is from an accident with scissors, I was jumping on the bed, long story”) and wound (I wound the red string around my finger and I STILL forgot your birthday!”) are spelled the same? What is UP with the English language? They definitely did not consult me! Okay, so sorry about the rant.
And sorry Sciarrino, but this is just too funny (only because you were not hurt worse). So Sciarrino comes home and Bj and I are in the kitchen and she has this baby gash on her head and she tells us that she was going to pick up her backpack this morning (that was sitting on the kitchen floor), and when she bent over she got stabbed. How does this happen you ask? Well the funny thing is that Sciarrino bought us a little holder to go next to our dish rack for small things like silverware, and um, knifes. Ya, so when she bent over her head caught the knife drying in the little holder. Sciarrino says, “Well, I think the amazing thing is that I didn’t need a Band-aid.” We do too Sciarrino. Now sometimes you just can’t get a picture of the moment like you would like, what do you do then? You improvise. Here is what I believe happened:
I love Sciarrino (I don’t think many other people would take things like this so well)! Okay now enough with the fun, she does need help. No not with her head. She needs to find more of this tiny paper clip: The tiny one is the one she wants, the big one is a regular Clipola so you can compare. We know it’s not Making Memories, and I don’t think it’s 7 Gypsies either. It was bought a while ago and she got some of these as a gift and doesn’t have the original packaging. So if you know where to get these mini guys, please let us know (they are for wedding invitations).
*Edited to add: that is an I heart apple shirt, not baby, as Sciarrino originally thought.
Oh my gosh I almost forgot!!! Comment: tell me what you the first thing you think of when you hear this word is. Check previous Wednesdays for further directions.
So I’m a Virgo, an apparently we like this just so (me? no!). Well I love the vertical paper storage by Cropper Hopper. I switched all my cardstock over to it months ago and just thought it was ever so pretty (plus I had so much it didn’t fit in my old bins). Well Angela and I went together and got a bunch of the Doodlebug Bazzill. When I got that I also got another paper holder. To my dismay they had changed the design slightly. Well when my holders were all lined up now they looked lame! So Sue had one of the older models and agreed to trade with me. I spent a very happy morning this morning reorganizing my paper into a rainbow of perfection! Thank you so much Sue! And doesn’t it look pretty sitting on my desk (also I love this picture because if you went by this you would think my room was really clean, and it’s really not).
I forgot I took a couple photos at Bj’s going away lunch yesterday so I was laughing my head off when I uploaded these into iPhoto. Some one said, “Josh feed Bj,” so of course he did. Those guys are such goofs. See Bj’s still kind of pink from when they put the sombrero on him to sing Happy Birthday (His birthday is really just about a month away, but what the heck, right), and I love it when he blushes! I am going to go work on my side bar (over there ⇒). I already updated my about me a tiny bit, but I am going to update my playlist. Peace.
So today was Bj’s last day at I Remember When. I am so proud of him for all of the great work that he has done there. I know we will miss all of the consultants that we loved so much (I left IRW in mid-December). It’s weird to be in this place in your life where things are always changing and friends are all doing different things (from hiking volcanoes to studying in Italy to starting their careers). I don’t think there is any right path or anything like that, but I know looking for a “grown up job” with benefits and everything seems like the right thing for Bj to do and I really support him in that. For me the right thing to do now is start my own company. I watched my dad work crazy hours and saw all the cool rewards to doing that (great employees and awesome projects). I had my mom always helping me to be as creative as possible, and for that I am truly thankful.
I think I have found the perfect combination of those two things in starting my company, The Ribbon Jar. I am going to be selling very pretty ribbon and trim. I couldn’t find this stuff anywhere when I wanted it so I decided that the world needs a Ribbon Jar. The ribbon is fun, funky, colorful, and exquisite, nothing you’d find on any normal store shelf. I also have really cool fabric strips from vintage to silk, and trims. I hope everyone is as excited as I am. And for all of my friends who are getting married I am offering a custom ribbon matching program so that people who like things just so like me can get everything to coordinate on their special day.
Right now the site just says coming soon, but it will be up in a few weeks or so. That jar on the left is my logo, I drew it so tell me what you think, actually tell me what you think of the whole idea, you know I love comments!
I figured out the best way to take a self portrait: Look at yourself in the mirror and hold the digital camera right in front of you (like a normal self portrait), then angle the camera so you can see the reflection of the LCD screen. Position yourself how you want and then redirect your eyes to the lens instead of the mirror. Wa La (okay that is so NOT how to spell that, but does anyone know the right way?)! So I’ve been working on a cool project. A paper bag book for myself all about me right this instant (give or take a week). I did a huge printmaking project last year that was amber lee pence 23.5, so I decided to do another project this year, hey maybe it will be a tradition. If you want I’ll post pictures of my project for last year, but I think most people saw it at my senior show. Anyway here is the book I have been working on, sans journaling:
Ya, haven’t really cleaned up after this project yet. Scans of the project:
Someone else had this idea of covering a bit monogram with paper and then exactoing around it and I love how it looks!
And the back. Can you tell the the heart accent thingie is three d? So do you like it? I think I am going to try and make one for eBay because I had so much fun with this one, but it might be hard because you don’t know the person, well I’ll give it a go!
How cute are Brently and I? The family tag slips in that pocket, but I left it out so you could see the cool head standing lady. This Technique Tuesday round stamp is just what I have been looking for and since it’s clear I can put it right where it should go.
Made another pocket on a pocketless page, since you know the book didn’t have enough already (she says sarcastically) bringing the total pockets to 13, and tags in book to 19! I better get to writing.
Okay so I’ve been saving all of these things I really love for when I work on something for my self since I’ve been doing lots of eBay, and there is a bunch of those things on this page. My last scraps of the 7 gypsies paper (the white with black writing). that cool paper clip my mom found, the a on the left page is the new fabric kind from Scrapworks, the fizz is a cool brad from Making Memories. I used some more of the used bingo cards from my stash (thanks Kathy!).
Another page that I made work for tags, this time by using strips of paper and ribbon to tuck them under. I just realized that both the love and life tags have ribbon that I’ve saved from presents I’ve gotten, so if it’s from you thanks!
Oh darn, the picture didn’t really show the @ sticker before the 24.5, it’s Inspire 2, I don’t know if they still make them, but I wish more sticker and stamp people would make @ signs in their sets.
In other news today Bj brought home a remote control helicopter courtesy of Josh:
The Masters at my Dad’s was everything I thought it would be. Brent drove Bj and I to Salem to watch and we settled in for a day golf clapping, fist pumping, and missed putts. I was voting for Tiger of course, but my dad wanted DiMarco to make a push for it so he could see some playoff action, he got his wish. I’m sure you all know that Tiger wins in a sudden death playoff with a birdie at 18. What I want to talk about is 16 and that sweet shot (so sweet it was sick really). Paul had shown up to catch a little of the action and I was playing a super cool game on his new PSP (it was like Tetris, yessss!). Bj was telling me when to pause so that I could see all the shots (there is lots of walking around and fluff and stuff when you watch golf). So I paused for Tiger’s chip at 16. We all kind of stood up a little as it landed and then started rolling in a curve towards the hole. Then it slowed down and started a straighter course… RIGHT FOR THE PIN, we started yelling, screaming and pumping our fists around, I’m sure “Go in the hole,” was heard for miles around. Then it paused right on the edge of the cup, like so many balls do, but we kept screaming, “go in, go in!” like the crazy golf watching maniacs that we are, and low and behold, it did. It was awesome. After that shot I calmed down a little and proceeded to kick butt on this Tetris type game getting the fourth highest score!!! It’s no wonder Tetris is the only game played more by women, it totally makes sense (oh, and there is no killing, which I appriciate)!
After all the golf hullabaloo and my Dad gave Paul his $5 bet (Dad: “So, it was the best five dollars I’ve spent, now that’s action.” about the sudden death playoff) he made us burgers, yum. We came back and Sciarrino, Bj and I watched Bridget Jones Diary: The Edge of Reason. I thought it was pretty good, but I did not laugh as hard as I did for the book, which was the first book to really make me cry laughing. Yesterday we watched Finding Neverland, um, could the boys in that movie BE any cuter or more adorable? No, no they could not. We also watched some In Living Color that we had rented (my favorite? “The title alone gets two snaps up!”) from DVD World. This rental store is the best; it’s locally owned, it has tons of random stuff you wouldn’t find anywhere, and you can rent whole seasons of TV shows for only 9 bucks. I was signing the rental agreement thingie and I noticed in the corner they have a little warning. I looked at the cashier and said, “$1.00 rewind fee, seriously?” He just laughed and I said, “that’s awesome!” Little things like that, they just kill me, I was laughing the whole way home.
