Thought I would mix it up and go with a (gasp) proper noun! So you know the deal, comment on the first thing that comes to your mind when you see this word. For extra help see the First Free Association Wednesday.

Kay was giving me a hard time for having this link over on the side saying to look me up on eBay and that I never had anything up there. I did go through a little bit of a drought, but hey, I was busy! I listed the Ribbon Jar journal, so I thought I would give the link as proof that I do list things:
My super ultra wonderful color journal. Hehehehe, well I like it at least. I won’t be so sad if it doesn’t sell. 🙂 I’m working on more goodies, and I’ll let you know when I post those. Seacrest out.
Okay so this whole weekend was pretty much about Star Wars. Bj and I went to see Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith on Saturday. I thought it was pretty good. Then of course we had to go buy the old ones to see what happened next (I had never watched them!). I still have to see Return of the Jedi, but other than that I know what’s going on in Star Wars land. We decided we had to buy some light sabers as well, we just couldn’t help ourselves. A couple kids had some in the theater (and a few had homemade ones stuffed with candy) and they just looked like fun. And boy were they fun, cool noises and vibrating handles, we even got one that has helpful hints from Yoda. Toys, I love toys. Tonight I got to hang out with Laura who lives in North Carolina while going to grad school for physical therapy. She is home for a mini break and we had a BBQ tonight at her boyfriend, Corley’s house. Here are the cute girls:
I’m stopping Laura from an obscene hand gesture, bad Laura. And the boys being crazy:
They were making fun of me taking pictures of Laura’s new ribbon belt (quickly crafted from some Ribbon Jar ribbon she picked up while visiting):
She’s so clever!
Thank you everyone for all your kind words about The Ribbon Jar. I am so glad that everyone likes it! I think the shop by color page is the runaway hit (phew glad I didn’t do all those drawings for nothing!). Thanks again for all your support! Oh and my first order was to a woman in Minnesota, which I thought was pretty cool.
Now onto the rest of life, which I am slowly getting back now that the shop has launched. Yesterday I braved insane downpours to go up to Portland and visit a few friends. The weather here has been a bit insane, thunder, lighting, pouring rain, and then blasts of sunshine. Well I got caught in the thick of a really big black cloud and got the kind of rain not even the highest setting on your windshield wipers can fix. But we all know the worst part is riding right next or close behind a semi, you can’t see anything. I got through all that to see my friend Matt who has been studying architecture in Italy for the last nine months. It was great to see him and all his cool photos of really old, and really cool buildings. We went to P.F. Chang’s for lunch, yummy, yummy (but their chopsticks suck). After hanging out with Matt I somehow managed to get to Beachwood’s house (note to self: do not again attempt to get from one side of Portland to the other in rush hour traffic) to say a quick hello. Katie is running a marathon in a few weeks, she’s been training and everything, but I thought I should say good luck just in case she doesn’t make it (just kidding I know you will Katie, you rock!).
Drove home going about twenty miles an hour, which is okay, got a lot of quality car singing in. When I got back to Corvallis Bj had cleaned up the whole downstairs and got me flowers, ahhh, thanks beeg! We watched House of Flying Daggers last night, which was completely amazing. The cinematography in this movie might be the best ever! Oh, and the colors were so beautiful (I want one of those green dresses). You know, watching that movie and the seeing the amazing costumes really made me think that other cultures get it a little more right when it comes to dressing. Looser is better than tighter. Long flowing outfits made from beautiful material, oh I would love that.

The day is here. The Ribbon Jar is officially open! This is the reason I haven’t posted lately. I’ve been getting my little project all ready for the world wide web. It turned out pretty well if I do say so myself. Today was a little crazy scary for me. It was all rainy and drizzly, much more than normal so it was really dark in here. Plus this helicopter was doing little mini flights right over our townhouse and landing in the field across the street for about four hours. It was really loud, but hey, the neighbor’s band didn’t practice. Anyway I had all this stuff to do, and I had just submitted to the super intimidating credit card company. Everything has to be perfect on your site before they can turn you on to actually take payments. Well at about noon I started flipping out (in a good way) when our contact guy Jeremy said that everything was right and he was flipping it on. I wanted to put up the site right away but we had to wait until after midnight so that we could do test runs when no one would really be ordering. So the site was turned on then, but set to a member’s only setting so that no one would order before we were ready. When we went to do the final checks imagine my surprise to see someone all ready signed up. Kay I love you!!!! Some how she had gotten on just before the site went live (you need to go back now because it looks much cooler) and signed up. I almost cried I was so happy. I hope everyone really loves the site and all the ribbon. The color journal above I did for the home page with some of our mini ric-rac. Sue turned me on to this stuff and I had to order every color for us because it is so cute and fun to use. Keep checking back because more ribbon is coming all the time. Let me know what you think, what you want, and if there’s a type please tell me!
To all my family and friends who have been so supportive of me I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know it could still tank, but to know you all stood by me while I took this risk is amazing. Mom, without your design sense I could never make such cool things. Dad, watching you have your own business is one of the reasons I knew that was what I wanted to do. And Bj, what can I say. I know I’ve asked a million questions and for you to “come here” just one more time to look and see if I did it right. You stood by me and helped me and if this thing succeeds at all it will be in huge part to you! Thank you again everyone!
Okay people, here is it, THE BEST COMMERCIAL EVER (well one of the top three at least). I am totally in love with this commercial,it makes me crack up like a crazy person. Bj has spent forever trying to get if from our Tivo to this weird hax0r mini windows machine he has to his Mac. Then he had to get it in Quicktime and everything. It took forever to sync up the sound with the video. He says he’s never doing it again, so let’s hope Mento’s doesn’t make any cooler commercials. THANK YOU BJ!!! The first time I saw this I was dying laughing, so if you haven’t seen it before prepare to be amazed. Without further ado…
P.S. No, I don’t really know what this has to do with Mentos.
P.P.S. If you are a Mentos person please don’t get mad at me I really love Mentos and I think this commercial totally rocks, but I know it’s your’s and everything. I can just see all these people sitting around a big table coming up with this. They must be the funniest people on the planet. I’m just put it on here so more people could see it and want to buy Mentos.
And One More Thing: This song is No Limit by 2 Unlimited.
In other news, if you are trying to talk to me on MSN Messenger I am running it on iChat through Jabber and I can’t get it to work right. Somehow people are able to message me even when I am not online. I don’t know, trying to figure it out. Hey if you are running Tiger and doing the same thing, tell me how to fix it!!
Okay, so starting your own business is hard. It is really fun to look up and see all that ribbon, but um, imputing it into the database and doing metatags, not so much. Just a little post to let you know that I am alive. I have been having a little fun, like getting to level 93 on Lumines (oh I know, I am so addicted, it doesn’t help that the game has no end though), and watching some of my favorite show’s finales. I still can’t believe that Uchenna and Joyce won on the Amazing Race, my roommates and I were jumping around like crazy. Jack and Bobby was, of course wonderful, and then I have all the finales next week. It’s a good thing we’ve got our Tivos on the job. Bj has been working on getting the Mentos commercial up, seriously, it should be soon. Meanwhile I’ve been listening to that song, No Limit like a mad woman when I feel like I’m getting a little too sucked into the computer.
So The Ribbon Jar should launch between Monday and Wednesday of next week. I can’t wait. Mostly I can’t wait for all you crofters to get this stuff and play with it so I can see what you do. Just putting it into the computer made me realize how unique so much of it is. And all those colors, yum, yum.
Oh and something else happened. I got the random-est comment ever. It totally made my night, I was cracking up:
"AHHHHHHHH! Who are you? Why am I looking at your website? Why do you like knitting? Why do you have this site and why did I get here for trying to find out if that song in the mentos commercial is really a song?! Will you be my girlfriend?
P.S., Becker is the worst TV show ever"
Like that last line, what does that have to do with anything? LOL!! Anyway up early tomorrow with Brent to hit the garage sales on Friday the thirteenth for two hours before work, Blythe here I come!!!

Tiger is the coolest operating system ever!!! I am so sorry if you are running windows, really I want to cry for you. I was there once too, I know what it’s like.
