Ladies Night

Super fun awesome time with all the ex crew girlies.

No that wasn’t an accident, the invite said pink and/or red. Tracy kinda forgot, hehehe. We love you Tracy.

Like Karen’s “moovivor” shirt. Ahh you gotta love dairy farmers. That’s why our fearless host had to be so careful with milk selection.

So, she just got one of everything. It was so good with this yummy yummy strawberry cake:

And this is totally random, but we all thought it was funny:

“Is that your phone?”
“Is that my phone?”
What an age we live in.

Tagged for the first time

The rules for this particular tagging are as follows: Remove the blog name in the top spot from the following list and bump everyone up one place. Then add yourself to the bottom slot.

Courtney
Leah
Amy
Amber
Amber Lee

Then you get to select five people to pass the love on to.

Luke (hahahhahhaha)
Ed (Kay you might want to help him)
Jamie (who prolly gets tagged more than anyone, sorry man)
Heidi (who has the new Target storage for her craft room – jealous!)
Erika (mostly because I’m trying to push the bloody snow pic off her front page, ew!)

Oh, I’m a really blogger now, I actually had five people to tag, whoo hooo! (I know bad karma to follow)

Here are the questions:

What were you doing 10 years ago?
I was probably dancing my butt off learning our state routine (Monopoly, oh ya, but I only had to be the dice for one performance!) my freshman year of high school. Hanging out with Ceara, watching ER, and Lois & Clark, learning Japanese, staying up all night getting crafty, and writing non stop in my journal about boys.

What were you doing 1 year ago?
Well Ribbon Jar had not “opened” yet, and I had no other job, so I was being super crafty, planning my launch, doing research, and waiting for Bj to ask me to marry him (yes, I’m still waiting).

Five snacks you enjoy:
-Jelly Bellys
-Grapes
-Frozen Cokes (more like a snack than a drink really)
-Homemade Chex Mix
-Candy, candy, candy

Five songs to which you KNOW all the lyrics:

-Amber, I too can sing all of Phantom of the Opera
-Vouge (after much debate with Ceara)
-Like a Prayer
-Dice by Finley Quaye
-Impressed by Natalie Imbruglia
-Mad World by Tears for Fears
I’m really not that good at remembering lyrics, though you wouldn’t know it by how loud I sing in the car.

Five things you would do if you were a millionaire:

I would buy a house with lots of property and a sick ill studio
order every color and size of everything cool for the Ribbon Jar
advertise in every print magazine and kick my google adwords up to like a couple grand a day
this would probably lead to me hiring my mom and giving her a ridiculously good salary
my own printing press (drool, drool, drool)

Five bad habits:

-multitasking when I should be paying a bit more attention to one thing
-commenting on nasty outfits of strangers to other people I’m with, even though I don’t dress that great myself
-spending all my money on art supplies (I have done this for as long as I can remember)
-not flossing enough
-slouching at the computer

Five things you like doing:

-going to the movies
-camping
-road tripping
-taking pictures
-creating

Five things you would never wear, buy, or get again:
-this one swimsuit that I borrowed that was kinda see through and then everyone at camp nick-named me nipples
-I’ll never buy anything at Wal Mart again ever
-onc piece navy loose legged dress outfit (must be seen to be believed)
-nothing that cuts into my flubby bits
-anything with “poofy” short sleeves

Five favorite toys:

-Bop It Extreme
-Tetris
-Uno
-Paper Dolls
-Dolls
(who am I kidding this list could go on and I on, I friggin love toys)

It’s raining… rain

Found some good photos, kinda small though:

MARK YLEN/For the Gazette-Times
The Willamette River, at left next to downtown Corvallis, floods the area around the Highway 34 bypass, partially visible at right in this aerial photo taken Thursday morning. The waters crossed Highway 34 itself onto the Trysting Tree golf course at upper right. The blockage of Highway 34 snarled commuter traffic to Corvallis throughout the day.

An over view, now while this is flooded Corvallis is kinda an island because there isn’t a bridge across the Willamette for another twenty miles (in Albany), so the back roads are packed with people trying to go around. That golf course is where our (OSU’s) team practice’s, and right next it it, close to the river is the boat house and stuff.

If you go straight on that wider road you would get to the townhouse I lived in, and then little driveway by the golf course is to get to the crew docks and boathouse.

This is our dock, that we usually walk, DOWN a ramp to get to (down like 14-20 feet depending on the height of the river). Hey, when did we get that new launch?

Just a note: it is still pouring hard core here in Salem, the really loud ploppy rain, okay well gotta go hit up some estate sales in this weather, hopefully most people will stay in and I can get some good deals!

-UPDATE FROM MY FIELD REPORTER KATIE-

alp-
intense flooding is upon us in the Corvallis stretch of the Willamette river. hwy 34 is causing quite the problems as they are having traffic go towards i-5 via the median lane until you reach the stoplight by the mini-mart. the whole place is pretty much flooded- the ramp is out of control and there is no water action for the crew.
over and out
Katie

325% WHAT?

Am I used to the rain? Of course, but I knew we were getting a lot down here. Then last night on the news the weather man was like, “if you want to talk about a city really getting a lot more than usual take a look at Salem who has had 325% more than normal.” I was like, pause that dude, I have got to get a picture, that’s insane. Okay you know what is even crazier? Corvallis is flooding, and it’s happening right by my old place. I always wondered if Mary’s Creek would spill over into our townhouse because we lived right on the bank, but it didn’t go too close when we lived there. I’m going to send my field reporter Katie L. to the scene. Katie are you on it? She might have a hard time getting there since 34 is closed, and that’s what I took to get to my house. People told me when I lived there that in the floods of 1996 they had not actually flooded, but they were a little island and couldn’t go anywhere, crazy. Hopefully Katie will tell us what is really happening because that news report doesn’t give enough info. I wonder if the crew girlies are able to get to the barn to erg? I know there is no way they are going out on a flood stage river (debris is so horrible to navigate and it would be flowing too fast). I wish I still had a link to the river monitoring station that is right on the bridge by the boat house. When I was a coxswain I would check it whenever we had tons of rain to see what conditions would be like, but I deleted the bookmark and can’t find it now. Anyways, ya, we’re getting rain.

Happy Birthday Jamie

How cool are these new fabric strips? I used this for the middle, this for the right side, and with the wavy diamonds I punched the letters. I ran the fabric strip through my little xyron x (it’s the perfect size) and then used Studio with my Quickutz. I pretty much immune to praise on 2 peas, but if you want the link it’s here. Happy birthday Jamie, this is coming your way!
