Amber’s Secret Project

Okay people are you ready for some serious bathroom cuteness? First let’s take a look back at the nastiness that once was:
Bathroomold

I had the soap dish and took the small mirror from my mom’s. The bigger mirror from the first pic was something I already had too, it was over the fireplace at my old townhouse. The little hobnail dish was $10 at a second had store. That along with my medicine cabinet hold most everything I need to get ready:

The shower curtain is from Anthropology and is on loan from Sciarrino. My grandma got me nice new white towels and this bathmat. I found the bath caddy after a considerable hunt on Amazon. No place had it locally, and it was less than $20 shipped so you can’t beat that. I’m so over the ones that go in the corner, had those all through college. And my shower head is so low something over that would look silly (when I say low, I mean low. I’m 5’3" and I have to bend back to get my head under it).

It’s hard to take a picture of lights, but trust me this is cute. My electrician put it in, and the fan. I patched the holes from the "saggy breasts" fixture that was there before. The bathroom really looks a lot cleaner because of the awesome new ceiling paint.

The trim. Dave the carpenter has been here three days this last week to help me finish things up. This was already primed when I bought it at Home Depot, and I painted it before it was installed. Then touched up after.

Here’s a run down on my $785 bathroom re-do
Paint and supplies: $50
Sink and Facet: about $250
Light and fan: $150
Trim: $50
Hardware (hinges, knobs, towel bars, etc): $150
Shower head: $15
Accessories (container, plastic drawers for cupboard, bath caddy): $50

Tile and supplies: $70

I need to go through my receipts, but that’s pretty close. That’s the most by far of any room, but worth every penny I think.

How am I still smiling?

Guttercleaning

Because I got a ton of stuff done this weekend, though I’m a bit wiped out. I think this picture might be a little bit more realistic:
Sugercoating
If I post all these kind of pictures on the internet willingly no one can black mail me with anything right? Ya, I had that little leaf on my forehead for a good hour before someone told me. Why did I wait until it was raining to clean my gutters? Because it’s Oregon, I’d have to wait until freaking July to do it in the sun. And good thing too, when I got up there they were almost overflowing with water. Thanks for the action shots Sciarrino. I’m really hoping my guests stop at the cupcakes on the dining room table and don’t glance into my nasty ass back yard. Ew.

My online housewarming will be Friday. You know what that means. Bathroom pictures baby. Oh ya it looks sick. Like sick awesome.

Warming Up

I just took this to Kinko’s to print up. I hope they turn out alright. They are postcards, and the back has all the info.
Front_4
What info? Well I’m going to attempt to have a house warming party next week. I mean,
everything might not get done, but oh well because most of it is. And
the bathroom is going to be finished soon (had to hire a little part
out), windows in the basement done, I’ll paint the whole floor down
there this weekend. All in all it’s not looking too shabby. I’ll keep
you updated on my little fixes all week and by next Thursday it should
be awesome. It’s just too bad the front yard is what everyone sees
first, ew.

Green being predominant

So I did get a few things while on our little adventure. And managed to take pictures of them yesterday in between organizing my craft room and going crazy.
Sweater_1

Say awe with me now! It’s a Locoste, so cute and soft, and machine washable. So there you have it, not bad I say. Sciarrino only got a few things, but one of them was this awesome "fuck drugs" button. It’s so perfect for her, I’ll have to get a picture of her with it later.

Sciarrino’s Adventure

Upclose

Each one was something for her to look out for on our adventure today. Before we could do that though we had to go back to the hotel and eat the desert I had planned. Peace_candle
Did you know the peace candle of the world was in Scappoose, because I didn’t. We had the best omelets ever at this little diner in one of the towns. Sciarrino a little help here? Dude they had Johnny’s on the table. I’m a certified Johnny’s addict and love to put this magical stuff on everything, so I was over the moon about it. Even filled out a comment card. We continued on with full stomachs stopping at little antique stores, even a vintage clothes store in Astoria. Down the coast a little bit to Seaside, where we were hoping to hit up one of our favorite places, but we couldn’t find it in time. Instead we went to another antique place and I finally found some cool Star Trek memorabilia worthy of the lovely Kay. The antique mall that was supposed to be open until 8pm had moved and was already closed when we go there so we took a stroll out towards the beach on this little road full of shops. On the way back was ate a "dinner" of nachos and potato skins at a cool bar. Now I don’t do the bar scene because I’m a homebody. I admit it, I like to stay home, fire up my TiVo and get crafty. Plus I’m always scared in Salem of running into old high school classmates that I don’t remember because I have this bad face/name recall problem, but they know me and blah blah blah. I digress. So anyway I was shocked when Sciarrino and I were hit on while we were eating. This cute guy came over and said him and his fire fighter friends were there for a conference and did we want to come over and hang out at their table tonight. We said we were leaving after dinner. Then after eating  we decided to go say hi, because they said they had some guys over there from Salem (where we live). Well those guys had left, but we ended up chatting for a bit with the three from Bend and La Pine. One guy was cute, one was crazy and married, and one was totally hot (but of course, not as cute as Bj, and he smoked so automatic rejection from Sciarrino too).  We heard some interesting stories, and learned some things about the fire departments. I decided we were very good at the bar scene because we are excellent question askers and I think that is important. Now I don’t plan on having to resort to the bar scene any time soon, but it was fun to get hit on once. After that we headed home, stopped at my hottie’s house to pee, get water, and drop off homemade fudge. All in all a pretty fun adventure. Pictures of my finds to come tomorrow. Goodnight!

Design

Okay so you thought the Sumco letters were kick ass? Well apparently you didn’t catch my picture of the day on Design

She cleaned those letters up for her new studio, but the studio doesn’t have enough wall space. They are in the Ribbon Jar right now, but might go into storage because they are quite massive, and I do want to put the row of chairs there. Haven’t decided. So what I’m getting to is that we still have some left over letters, and I am planning on getting back over to Sumco for some of those. We want to do some kind of swap, so that we can spell things we want, or get our initials, or maybe cool fabric, whatever. Would that be something you were interested in? I was thinking I could just put pictures up of the letters individually and take offers on each one. It will be a few weeks, I’m still unpacking my craft room and working on Ribbon Jar like crazy, but I wanted to get a feel for if this would be something you are all interested in. Let me know!

Ribbon Jar 3.0

Well Ribbon Jar is totally up and running at the new place, and I love it. Everything on one level and all together. I didn’t have to slow down orders at all, I just haven’t had time to take pictures of it. I still have a bit of organizing to do, and of course I can barely stand to wait the two more recommend weeks to paint the rest of the floor green. Before I show you the new space, let’s check the old space out:
Rj_desk_setup

Again, a little more organizing is in order. Bj put up the bulletin board I scored from Sumco. I also got those chairs, rolly rolly. The big wall adjacent to this hold the real goods:
Jar_storage
I’m still working on organizing the one cabinet because I took all the shelves they had at Sumco and it still wasn’t enough. I want to find some kind of rack that I can set bins of lids on. If you know of any rack that can hold heavy bins that will fit in this space please let me know, it is: 25 tall (but can be lower and I’ll put bins on top) 16.5 deep (can be less, but the closest I’ve found is like 12 and I want deeper than that) and 34 wide (but not really because see the right hand door doesn’t quite open all the way due to pipes). Any ideas?

Take Amber to Work Day

So when I was younger I got to go to all these cool places for take your daughter to work day; job sites. My dad’s in construction and I loved picking up little left over things or cool looking pieces of "garbage" from the sites, like those little metal pieces that come from putting in new plug boxes, I still have my collection of those fake coin like things. So when my dad acquired a closed Sumco plant I was ready to rummage. This place is the creepiest, coolest playground. The company relocated the crystal growing facilities and wafer manufacturing to Ohio/overseas, both too far to take all the weird equipment they had at the Salem plant. We’re talking huge equipment, strange equipment, and miles of wire and duct work. I’ve been there twice already to get some shelves for my jars, and laundry area (see
There are so many tubes at this place; pink tubes, florescent tubes, iron tubes that look like Augustus Gloop could get sucked up in one, all kinds of tubes.
Sinage

I’ll be back for you little a just you wait.

Found

16
It so strange to find all these little bits of my younger years. I haven’t cleared out every nook and cranny since I moved in when I was almost 13. And though I have almost everything here I still have a bunch of really random things, like this, at my mom’s.
