Baskets

Be still my heart I love this basket. And  since  Briana asked about it, that of course means I have an opportunity to go on (and on and on) about how much I love it. Which I do realized I’ve done a bit before, but who that has seen me in the last two years or so can blame me? One of these baskets is almost always with me. They go with me daily to the post office, hold a picnic at the beach, bag my groceries or other shopping, and have even been my carry on. So to answer your question Briana, I got the first one up there at Garnet Hill a while ago (like two years ago now?) and that second one at the Container Store. I’ve also seen them at Sur La Table and some other random places . They only came in four colors or something so I got the most "wild" at the time, red. I’ve added another one to my collection because one is almost always full of something, and they’ve made a key upgrade. Before the little plastic boning that held up the sides was free to slip out as it liked, but now there are little knobs that snap into it and keep it up, love this new feature.

Since getting the basket I’ve gotten a few other things from the company (Reisenthel).  They have a good environmental policy, which I like. And the designs reflect that. All come very flat and are easy to put together. Smaller during transport to the consumer means they are easier to move, and have less wasteful packaging. The next things I bought were their laundry baskets.
Laundry

These were perfect for when I was transporting laundry, they are very light, and the mesh part can be cinched up to close up the top. Again these came flat and I them together. Plus check out the wickedly cool green color. Yum! Then I got some of these:

Which gets the best response at checkout. Oh I have a bag, tucked right here in my Kate Spade. I open it up and Viola! Ohhs and Ahhs all around. I love like everything this company does (and I just saw they have covers for the baskets now!) so expect me to get more things of their’s in the future.

Well that should answer that!

More “stuff”

I added captions and locations to the 2007 dailies, per your request. Kept the picture titles numbers though, because it’s easier, and dare I say, cooler.

Loved the comments on the last post. Hehehehe.

Updated my blogs I’m addicted to list over there, to reflect what I really keep up on (or try to at least).

Contemplating buying this audiobook version of Pride and Prejudice, has anyone by chance heard this version through to the end? I’d hate to buy it and not like the way the narrator does the character voices, the preview is only a clip of literature about Jane Austen. And I’ve watched the BBC version at least 20 times, so that’s the style of characters I like (new movie version = yuck).

When the going gets tough the tough go shopping

So I mean, come on, getting a call that your church is like no longer available is so NOT the call you want to get less than three months from your big day. My coordinator is currently on the case and it is, as of yet, unresolved. See we signed up with the church before Christmas, and a person we had never talked to at the church called us just last night to tell us there was going to be concerts there Friday and Saturday, and they couldn’t move the stuff for our wedding. That he had been on vacations, blah, blah, I started crying about right here, blah. I mean he actualy offered me another date, I’m all HELLO my wedding is like planned YO! Yes they took our money, yes we have a contract, yes we are exploring all options. So enough with that (for now).

Today was the big new arrivals thing at the rack. I’ve been wanting some thing at Nordy’s all fall, so the fact that they could be mine at tiny percentages of the original price was oh so appealing to me. I did the whole get up early and get in line thing, and while I don’t think I’ve got my black belt in shopping yet (should have went for the Juicy rack first damn it!). I did score pretty well. $123.74 later:
Rack_score

Tee shirt: 14.97, green skirt: 12.97, lime nightgown: 8.97, blue skirt: 24.97, white skirt: 19.97, pink jacket: 9.99, kick ass (and take names) shoes: 31.90.I saved $311.21 people! And I so almost bought that nightgown at full price this last summer. Possibly tacky to tell you the prices, but I would want to know if it was me on the other side. The whole point was to get things to wear to my bridal showers (yes showers plural, I felt quite honored that so many wanted to throw them for me, but we stopped at three). I think two of those skirts, and that little jacket thing could work for that purpose. And oh that blue skirt, how I love thee. It’s a size zero which is why I’m sure it wasn’t snatched up (but don’t hate me because it’s more like a size 6, I think it was mis marked or something). Anyway it’s by free people. I don’t think I’ve got anything from them before, but oh man do they have my number. Frilly, poofy, ric-rac and a jersey waistband!

So little problem. One of the things on.my.list. were more tights. I need more cool tights (and knee highs!). I wear these like all the time (despite Bj’s dislike of that whole thing "Ugh knee highs"). They look hot, no? I think he’s crazy. Anyway anyone got a source for this type of thing, preferably someplace that is doing a winter clearance? I also tried Ross, nada.

So something else to save up for? The iPhone baby. I told Bj I didn’t want one, I NEEDED one. I’ve been coveting this one for a while (I love the Ericsson I have now and despise flip phones), but come on, as one commenter said "My cell feels like a tin can with a string coming out of it now." So true. (I hope I can link that comment, is that kosher on blog world? I don’t know how to get this guy’s permission). Bj’s all, "no, no it’s too much, you don’t need it." Which is freaking hilarious because my phone (which is his old one) is on it’s last leg. And ya, okay that may be because it’s bounced in and out of puddles and such, but hey. Plus he needs every new gadget like yesterday, and he’s had every iPod since the first one (the phone is a cool hybrid). So we both watched the keynote address on our respective 23 inch monitors (geeks we are) and he just iChated me to say we’re getting them in June, SA-WEEET. The pinching thing might be the SICKEST FEATURE EVER.

So the wedding stuff is a bit draining right now, but retail therapy always helps.

Baptism

Ah little miss Violet, she might have to get her own category! Today was her baptism and Brett and Michele had me be a special part in it which was so amazing. I was 13 when I was baptized (my parent’s had me like committed to Christ when I was a baby so I could choose later when/if I wanted to be baptized). So I do really remember my baptism and how I felt. It was neat to be a part of this and have those feeling come over me again. Some pictures from the event:

I’m smiling because she just looked so sweet and calm.
Baptism6

we’re doing good….
Baptism7

There’s a little water in my eye here people. But she just barely cried, then back to happy baby.
Baptism9

Proud parent’s look on. Pictures are a little blurry because Bj didn’t use the flash, which I think was a good call.
Baptism11

Pants were lost towards the end, which prompted a wardrobe change at the after party. And yes that is

Apparently the traditional godparent gift to baby at baptism is a silver cup. But who wants to put that kind of pressure on a kid still on the boob? And I’m all about instant gratification so I went with a teething rattle (it’s a combo of this and this, but I can’t find it on the site anymore, weird). It was a huge hit. This thing is the perfect size for baby hands and she managed to hold on to it until she drifted off to the land of nod.

More Happiness, is it possible?

I so needed that last post. Some of my favorites from the comments:

comfy pants, being barefoot at work, tivo, children, inspirations, stacks of books, lazy rains, babies, American citizenship…

I loved the comments so. I had to do this, it was one of those working too late, thinking of too many negative things kind of days. Do you ever notice how much easier it is to complain, whine, etc? So much easier than actually admitting you are a very lucky person indeed. I had a great day today with these thoughts going through my head (when it finally hit the pillow around 3:30 a.m.). The day included started with 22 orders (and it’s not over yet), random calls from Bj just because he loves me, my mom helping me cut and pack ribbon, Sciarrino and Brent both stopped by during the day. Later I had a home cooked meal at my mom’s with my brother and we watched Clueless on a new relining sectional (this is so funny at my mom’s where everything is usually a modern country comfy, but it’s boy zone up there in front of the big screen). Now I’m sitting here swirling in pastel dust.  I went nuts for pastels a few years ago and bought them off eBay like a mad woman. They are so like candy to me, all the colors, and the best ones nestled in tiny dividers or wrapped up with hand written numbers on their labels. I’ve been creative these last few year, I know, but not like this. Not art for arts sake. I was thinking I was going to tell you that I didn’t even like anything I did tonight all that much. I like the mess more than anything:
Creative_mess

With my knee socks pulled off half way through because I always get these mad hot flashes when I work. I haven’t felt hot and flushed like that in a long time. It’s the most incredible feeling. I don’t think about anything but the now. And it’s the creating that is the best part, getting something truly special out of it is a cherry on the top, but that didn’t really happen for me tonight, I’m so rusty anyway. I decided to pull out my micro/macro lens because the camera bag was out and started snapping up snippets of my work. It’s so interesting to see it this way:
Wall_paper

I mad this one my wallpaper on my G5 to remind me to create. Another favorite image is my picture of the day. Sue I’m listening! I’m reinstating picture of the day!

So here’s to your creative soul. Do something just for you, and love it!

Stream of Thought

I’m so lucky for

marshmallows, sunshine, cloudy days, pattering rain, william, kisses, handshakes, friends, french fries, the color green, good music, happy thoughts, true love, warm socks, funny slippers, pretty yarn, a lovely mother, my little nose, a big diamond ring, ribbon, late nights, metal rulers, sharp scissors, glitter, plane rides, the perfect dress, a comfy bed, my stuffed animals, pecan floors, church pews, bubble wrap, demolition, reconstruction, a really tall dryer, big desks, pigtails, best friends, good music, diet coke, you.

Why are you lucky?

All Knit Up

And here she is, the cutest little god daughter there ever was, Miss Violet:
Meandv_1

I know I left the red leggings she was wearing on her, bad choice, oops!
Violet2

And her and her mommy. I can’t believe how long the little munchkin is getting. Those pants are going to last like a week. But they are like hilariously cute, so it was worth it. And I love that the sweater opens the way it does, really easy to get on a baby. Next up is knitting Violet’s dress for the wedding. All the guests actually going to the ceremony (only about 20 people) are coordinating (what I couldn’t help it!). The woman are wearing green, so I’m going to reknit that little baby dress I did for Michele’s shower in a green colorway of Koigu, (on that page second down, forth over) swoon.

In New Year’s eve news… I went out! I had an alcoholic beverage!  Bj had more than one, and let’s just say the Max was not his friend. We made a couple of attempts at riding it (while it was horribly, horribly packed) but we only made it to the zoo stop (very weird at 2am, we got off with a biker gang, and I don’t mean motorcycles), and called in an S.O.S. Lauren, our Saviour had to then do an emergency pull over. To be fair Bj has horrible motion sickness anyway… Now I have an extra "day off" (well really only a day off from going to the post office) because of Ford’s death.  I still can’t bring myself to take down Christmas, as it all seemed to happen so fast, I don’t want to believe it’s over! I’m working on January jars (yum, yum) and a newsletter, so expect that soon!

How I spent my winter vacation

Actually my little Christmas holiday was quite dull. I got to spend time with friends (love ya Tex!) and family (hello to my flower girl, Brianna!) which was wonderful, of course, but I mostly just vegged. Bj and I spent a few days up at his parent’s place. Did I take pictures? No. Did I eat way too much? Yes. Did I knit. Oh yes I did:
Sweater_2

Started my swatch for gage on the drive up to the tri-cities on Friday and put the buttons and elastic on tonight. One week baby, I rule. Hehehe, well actually this pattern is really easy: Design 3 – Side opening jumper with raglan sleeves and matching pants. I got the book my local knitting shop recommended by Cleckheateon: 10 Simple knits baby knits in 8 plys. Great book, easy to follow patterns, and unique twists on simple baby knits. There’s a sweater in the back that’s "cleverly knitted in one piece" that I want to try also. That might get some competition because I got  the Greetings from Knit Cafe book from my step mom and it has tons of cute things in it (including knit boxers!) Back to my little set. I made it to match a shirt I got Violet right after she was born. I’ll show more pictures tomorrow, because let’s face it, knits are much cuter actually on the baby. The yarn is machine washable Debbie Bliss Donegal Aran Tweed.

In other news Bj and I got separated returning Christmas gifts:
Missed_calls

I mean personally I would have realized at about five missed calls that I didn’t have my phone with me, but hey I guess 21 times is the charm.
